I Want To Become A Runner

Growing up, I was always active. I played soccer for years, and although I’ve never been skinny, I was in much better shape than I am now.  A lot of the time, my laziness wins these days, but I still like to exercise.

I want to become a runner. If I write it out in a post does that mean I’ll actually make it come true? I tried to start running before. I liked running in races, and I’ve run one 2 miler, and one 5K. They were both for different charities, and I liked that aspect too. I used the “Couch to 5K” program, and I liked it. I stopped trying to become a runner last fall.

I think it’s time to try again. Make sure I stretch and foam roll after each workout so I don’t get injured.

I want to run another 5K, and I want to do better than I did in the last one (it took me almost 45 minutes.) I was so proud of myself for crossing that finish line though.

I want to run a 10K, a half marathon, who knows maybe a full marathon someday. I want to do a triathlon (although, I think I would be more nervous about the swimming than the running in this situation to be honest.)

These are lofty goals. Even a 5K is a pretty lofty goal right now, but I want to try.

I plan to find a 5K that’s a few months away and start training for it, that way I’ll have a goal in mind.

I’m going to be slow. I don’t know exactly how far I can run right now without stopping, but I know it won’t be far.

You have to start somewhere though, right?
